Gimbal Trophies
I made a set of trophies for the annual Holy Grail fencing tournament in the form of a gimbal. Referencing the tradition of the winning team drinking out of the cup, this design makes it a bit of a fun challenge. Physical awards are usually, at very best, pretty objects that impart a sense of value; but in keeping with the spirit of inclusion, camaraderie, and plain fun that this event inspires, an award with humble, honest materials, a simple form, and a delightful interaction felt most suitable.
Made with acrylic hemispheres, 3D-printed PLA, and CNC-cut plywood.
